Basia Bińkowska, Designer

Basia is a designer, scenographer and an artist currently based between the UK and Poland. Before completing a theatre design course in Glasgow, she trained in fine arts and graphic design in Poland. After her graduation in 2016,
she worked as the RSC Trainee Designer at the Royal Shakespeare Company assisting designers and working alongside the company on several productions.

In 2017 she was announced the Overall Winner of the Linbury Prize with the winning design for Lyric Hammersmith’s production of othellomacbeth, which opened at HOME Manchester and at the Lyric following year. Since then she has been successfully working as a designer and a theatre maker with some of the most exciting theatre companies in the UK. She has also developed several projects in Poland, recently designing her first show for the National Stary Theatre in Kraków.

Some of her recent designs include: Arianie Narodowy Teatr Stary Kraków, Ivan and the dogs Young Vic,
Mephisto [a Rhapsody] Gate Theatre, othellomacbeth Lyric Hammersmith/HOME Manchester,
Crooked Dances Royal Shakespeare Company, Love and Other Acts of Violence Donmar Warehouse.
