Founded in 1987 by Lady Anya Sainsbury,
the Linbury Prize for Stage Design is one of
the UK’s foremost design prizes. It has helped launch the careers of over 200 artists. Offering an unparalleled opportunity for exposure and success at a pivotal moment in a designer’s career, the Prize has been running for 36 years.

The Linbury Prize has historically been open to graduates of theatre design courses. In 2023, applications were opened to designers who could demonstrate equivalent skills

and experience.
