

Debbie Duru
Debbie Duru is a Designer for Performance space. Her work spans theatre, film, fashion, dance and opera. She works across the different genres with an interest in how design can evoke spaces in which to feel.
She is also interested in the different ways of working within the practice of design. A notable project being as part of the Royal Court's design collective for the Living Newspaper series in 2020/21.

As an Associate designer she has worked on Get Up Stand Up at the Lyric, Soho with Chloe Lamford, Dick Whittington at the National theatre with Georgia Lowe and on Mandela at the Young Vic with the production designer, Hannah Beachler.

She was the winner of the Black British Theatre awards for Theatre Design in 2023 and nominated again in 2024. Debbie was a 2019 Linbury Prize finalist.
She trained at the Royal Welsh college of Music and Drama, and Goldsmiths college, University of London.
