Rajha Shakiry

Rajha is a freelance set and costume designer, trained in Theatre Design at Wimbledon School of Art and has obtained a distinction in MA Scenography at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. She has extensive experience in national, international and touring productions. Rajha has designed and collaborated on numerous devised and text-based projects, physical theatre, musical theatre and opera.

 

Rajha’s work was selected to represent the UK at the Prague Quadrennial 2019 for Design and Performance. She has exhibited at the V&A as part of Staging Places Exhibition, 2019 and Make:Believe, 2015 and as a finalist at World Stage Design, 2013.

Theatre productions include: Misty (The Shed, NYC); seven methods of killing kylie jenner (Public Theatre, NYC and Woolly Mammoth Theatre, Washington DC); for the National Theatre, The Father and The Assassin, Trouble in Mind, Master Harold And The Boys, Nine Night (also West End); Two Palestinians Go Dogging (Royal Court Theatre); The Mountaintop (Royal Exchange Theatre); Return of Danton (Collective Ma’louba, Germany); Autoreverse (Battersea Arts Centre); seven methods of killing kylie jenner (Royal Court); Misty (The Bush and West End); Going Through (The Bush); Richard II (Shakespeare’s Globe); The Dark (Fuel Theatre); The Mountaintop (Young Vic and UK Tour); Muhammad Ali And Me (Albany Theatre and UK Tour); Mobile (Paper Birds); How Nigeria Became (Unicorn Theatre); Sweet Taboo (Embassy Theatre); I Stand Corrected (Artscape, also Ovalhouse); Richard II (Ashtar Theatre, Hisham’s Palace, Jericho and Shakespeare’s Globe); Moj Of The Antartic (Lyric Hammersmith, Ovalhouse Theatre and South African Tour); Visible (Contact, Everyman, Ustinov And Soho Theatre); The Wall, Changes (Cardboard Citizens).

 

Opera includes: Don Giovanni and Le Nozze Di Figaro (St Andrew’s Church, Islington and Beauforthuis, Holland)

 

Dance includes: Head Wrap Diaries (The Place); and Power Games (Jerwood Dance, Ipswich and Edinburgh Fringe Festival).
