Daniel Southwell

I'm a young designer/maker who studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Having recently graduated, I'm still carving out my process, learning from as many of the disciplines of theatre and design as possible. Growing up in Bristol, I was exposed to "a theatre of play" thanks to the Tobacco Factory and the Bristol Old Vic. I try to remember that play, both in the creative process and the final product, creates an energy that cuts through to the hearts of an audience. Drawing lies at the heart of my practice. Sketching, doodling, and re-doodling lets me create, in some small way, stories.
